Day 3

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

Just a REALLY FAST update to tell that we are working as fast as we can to our XNA Warm-Up contest entry.
To meet the short deadline, we had *obviously* to cut some of the uber-features we planned at the very beginning … but our mini-game should still be pretty fun to play.
Well, I really do not know how many updates we will be able to post until we are in this thight schedule … just stay tuned, and show your support the best you can. :)

You will soon feel the power of G. ( we hope )

Warm-up Contest, DAY 1

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Ok, So we decided to participate even to the “Warm-up challenge” @ the XNA contest.
Basically we have until February the 28th to build up a game using an XNA game-tutorial as a base.

The deadline is REALLY short, so today, Xevian, Duke and Me rushed to write down a brief but precise design document for our contest-entry.
We ended up with a quite solid idea, let’s hope the contest’s jury will like it as much as we do. :)

Tomorrow we have to begin the REAL development, we used this first day ( truly we worked night-time ) for testing, designing and fast prototiping.

Weeeell, enough for today, I have to go back to the drawing board.

To Work!

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

So ok, we’ve been quite lazy lately…

To work!

Luckily for us there is always Chief Engineer Dayzee to take us back to our duties… O_O.

We will post some updates soon, i swear it!
In the meanwhile… say hello to Dayzee, one of the characters from our “Invaders!” project!

What the fuck…?

Why the Mutant Penguins goes to lethargy? is it caused by the incedible mutation they have in their DNA? Probably!

But every sleep cycle results in a bigger challenge, some new ideas, and new technologies… when they wake ups!

So… what’s the new project this time? Exactly the previous one! The VerticalShotEmUp! but… for a new plattaform and with a new framework!

XNA on XBox360!!

This will causes the port of our currently-working-pc-code for the new development environment, but we will use this occasion to improve the performance of some part and design a stronger engine. The XBox360 is an amazing machine ad it is the PERFECT target for a vertical shooter.
Also, XNA allows source code compatibility between X360 and PC, and have a strong content pipeline that allows us to load and convert complex content file created with 3DSMax (for example) into our in-game type without “sbattimenti” :D

Last, Microsoft is promoting a contest for games created with XNA, and… Mutant Penguins likes challenges!

Turn on your HD-TV, connect the XBOX and prepare your game controller :D

The mutation is approaching!
